Nitish Kumar set to join NDA, resolution on August 19

The JD(U) is however confident of passing the resolution. Kumar had repeatedly pointed out that Bihar is in dire need of funds from the state.

Nitish Kumar will be in New Delhi next week to discuss the modalities of joining the NDA government. Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar had walked out of the grand alliance and joined the BJP to form the government in the state.

Nitish Kumar and Amit Shah

Last week, BJP's national chief, Amit Shah had invited the JD(U) to join the NDA. Sources say that the party will formally join the NDA after August 25. In the Cabinet reshuffle, the JD(U) is likely to get at least two berths.

Kumar who will visit Delhi next week would also present before the centre a detailed report seeking funds for the state. A ministry wise report has already been prepared and the same will be presented to the Union Government during his visit next week.

Prior to joining the NDA, the JD(U) will hold a convention on August 19. A resolution is likely to be passed about joining the NDA. However the convention is expected to be a stormy affair as the party is facing a rebellion from its senior leader Sharad Yadav. While Yadav is unlikely to take part in the meeting, his supporters are expected to create some problems.

The JD(U) is however confident of passing the resolution. Kumar had repeatedly pointed out that Bihar is in dire need of funds from the state. In the interest of the state and its development it is important that the party be part of the Union Government, Kumar had also pointed out.
