Swami Nithyananda's 'country' Kailasa attends UN meet, says self-styled godman is being persecuted

In the video, Vijayapriya is seen as the 'permanent ambassador' from Swami Nithyananda's nation 'KAILASA'.

Controversial self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda's country 'United States of KAILASA' attended the recent United Nations meeting where its representative said Nithyananda is being 'persecuted' by India.

On February 22, a woman who called herself Ma Vijayapriya Nithyananda represented 'Kailasa' at the 19th United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESR) meeting and demanded protection for the 'Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism'.

In the video, Vijayapriya is seen as the 'permanent ambassador from KAILASA'. However, it is still unclear whether the nation is recognised by the United Nations.

''Kailasa is the first sovereign state for Hindus, established by the supreme pontiff of Hinduism, Nithyanand Paramashivam, who is reviving the enlightened Hindu civilisation and its 10,000 indigenous traditions of Hinduism, including the Adi Shaivite indigenous agricultural tribes for which the supreme pontiff of Hinduism is the leader as well,'' the woman said when it was her turn to speak at the meet, a video of which has been posted on the United Nations website.

After the woman spoke, a male representative of "Kailasa", who identified himself as EN Kumar, spoke at the UN meeting.

Kailasa, reportedly located off the coast of Ecuador, has its own passport, flag and even a 'Reserve Bank of Kailasa'. In December 2020, Nithyananda had even announced flights to his so-called nation.

No matter how much Nithyananda would market himself as the restorer of Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism), he still happens to be a fugitive for India, fleeing the country in 2019 after he was involved in non-bailable charges of rape and abduction.

Nithyananda, who ran several ashrams in the country, is accused of sexual assault and abuse and is on the run from authorities in India.

Nithyananda had fled India in 2019 amid allegations of rape and sexual abuse.

The controversial godman has in the past claimed to have founded his own 'Hindu sovereign nation' called 'Kailasa'.

The self-styled godman, who founded a Hindu religious group called 'Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam', has regularly courted controversy. He has been involved in a number of scandals and legal controversies.

He was arrested in 2010 in Himachal Pradesh over rape allegations and was also allegedly seen in explicit footage with an Tamil actress. He later refuted the allegation, claiming that he was impotent and was merely 'practising the shavasana' yoga pose.

Two years later, he landed again in soup when a US-based woman claimed that Nithyananda had abused her for five years.

In 2019, he was booked after a couple from Tamil Nadu accused him of abducting their children and keeping them at his Ahmedabad-based ashram.

Nithyananda was again in the news when he fled India after being accused of kidnapping and confining children in his ashram. He was later reportedly granted citizenship by the government of the Caribbean island nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Nithyananda continues to be a controversial figure, with many former followers accusing him of fraud and abuse of power. However, he also has a loyal following of devotees who believe in his teachings and spiritual practices.
