According to the district excise officer, liquor outlets will remain operational for an extra hour on December 31, 2024. The shops will be open from 10 AM to 11 PM, allowing people to purchase alcohol for their New Year celebrations.

The district excise officer, Subodh Shrivastava, emphasized that a mandatory occasional bar license is required for both private and commercial parties serving alcohol on New Year's Eve. How to Obtain a Single-Day License

To accommodate the numerous private and commercial events planned for the evening, the excise department will issue "single-day licenses" for ₹1,100. The entire application process is conducted online, streamlining the procedure for people looking to host parties.

License Fees Based on Venue Type The cost of a license will vary depending on the venue:

• Private parties: ₹4,000 per license
• Commercial venues (restaurants, banquet halls): ₹11,000 per license

These licenses ensure that alcohol served during parties is legally approved and safe for consumption.

Increased License Applications

The district has already seen a 20% increase in license applications compared to the previous year, with many opting for the online process. The excise officer expects even more requests as the New Year approaches. Citizens are encouraged to apply for their licenses in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.

Strict Regulations for Alcohol Consumption

Authorities have issued strict instructions that only licensed and approved alcohol may be consumed during New Year celebrations. Illicit alcohol is not permitted, and failure to comply with the regulations could lead to legal action.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar district magistrate has also issued guidelines for establishments planning to host New Year events. Hotels, pubs, restaurants, and parks hosting parties need to seek prior permission from the authorities. This measure ensures better organization and safety for all celebrants.
