Vande Bharat Metro Train Successfully Completes Trial Run at 145 kmph in Kota
A newly constructed Vande Bharat Metro rake, consisting of 16 coaches, underwent a successful trial run at a speed of 145 kmph. This test was conducted by the West Central Railways' Kota division on Saturday. The Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) team from Lucknow led the trial in collaboration with the operations department of the Kota division.

The metro rake was tested on two routes: between Kota and Mahidpur Road stations in one direction and between Mahidpur Road and Shamgarh stations in the opposite direction. These tests involved two round trips at varying speeds to evaluate different technical aspects, according to Rohit Malviya, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.
Technical Parameters and Load Simulation
To simulate real-world conditions, each coach was loaded with a weight equivalent to a full passenger load, totalling 24.7 tonnes. This was done to ensure the train's performance under typical operating conditions. The train reached a maximum speed of 145 kmph over a distance of approximately 50 kilometres during the trial.
Further instrumentation work is scheduled for Sunday, as stated by an official. Over the next 15 days, additional tests will focus on assessing the speed and braking systems of this rake. The trials are being conducted under the supervision of RDSO's Director of Testing, B.M. Siddiqui.
Previous Trials in Kota Division
In the past, successful trials for Vande Bharat rakes with 18 and 20 coaches were also carried out in the Kota division. These earlier tests have contributed valuable insights into improving the design and functionality of these trains.
The ongoing trials aim to ensure that all technical parameters meet safety and performance standards before regular operations commence. This rigorous testing process is crucial for maintaining high safety standards and operational efficiency in India's railway network.
