NCP Faction Led By Ajit Pawar Faction Challenges ECI Order In Supreme Court
NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar on Wednesday filed a caveat in Supreme Court anticipating a petition by Sharad Pawar faction's against the ECI order. The caveat says that no order should be passed by the top court in Sharad Pawar's plea without hearing Ajit faction.
After a series of more than 10 hearings spanning six months, the Election Commission designated the faction led by Ajit Pawar within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as the authentic representation, dealing a blow to the party's founder, Sharad Pawar, and his faction. Consequently, the 'clock' symbol was allocated to Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP.

The discord between the two factions emerged in July 2023 when Ajit Pawar broke away from his uncle Sharad Pawar and aligned with the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena coalition in Maharashtra, leading to a division within the NCP.
RESPONSE FROM SHARAD PAWAR'S FACTION
In response to this development, Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar and a leader within the NCP, remarked, "I believe what occurred with Shiv Sena is now happening within our party. Hence, this ruling is not novel. It's merely a change in titles, while the substance remains consistent."
Jayant Patil, president of Sharad Pawar's faction within the NCP, expressed astonishment at the decision by the electoral body, stating their intention to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.
