Navy pushing 'aatmanirbharta’, to use indigenous fire fighting bots on aircraft carriers
This apart, Indian Navy is also sincerely thinking on inducting game-changing technologies like blue-green lasers.
India, under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is moving ahead with indigenization programs in defence. Not just that defence manufacturing is being promoted at the large scale, the investment opportunities have also been increased for the foreign investors to come and make in India under the indigenization program. Moving ahead, even the Indian Navy has decided to attain 'aatmanirbharta' in defence.
Under its indigenization program, the Indian Navy has decided that the fire fighting bots, which are to be used on warships and indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya, would be completely made in India. This is one of the hundreds of the ground-breaking developments that are taking place in the Indian Navy in its mission to promote the 'Make-in-India' initiative.

Navy on indigenisation mission
Like the Indian Air Force and Indian Army, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a mission to each of India's armed forces where they have been asked for maximum indigenization possible. This would not just reduce the dependency over the imported defence equipment but at the same time boost the indigenous defence production capabilities.
So far defence production has been carried out by the defence PSUs; however, now even private firms have been brought up to make defence equipment for Indian defence forces under Make in India defence program. Talking about the indigenous fire fighting bots, Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade said that the Navy would be able to fulfill the indigenisation of equipment under the Make-in-India project.
Elaborating further on the indigenous fire fighting bots the Vice Admiral was quoted saying that contracts have already been materialised. Nonetheless, these indigenous fire fighting bots are being used in INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya aircraft carriers.
Inducting game-changing tech in Navy
Apart from indigenous fire fighting bots, Indian Navy is also sincerely thinking of inducting game-changing technologies like blue-green lasers. This technology is extremely exemplary in detecting underwater vessels and objects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already launched a 75-challenges program and the Indian Navy has started working on it as well.
Apart from launching the ACTCM Barge, the Navy has also commissioned the fifth Kalvari class Scorpene submarine earlier this year. Last but not the least, the Navy carried out the maiden landing of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Navy onboard the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant earlier this month.
