Akhilesh Yadav Advocates for Renaming Raj Bhavan to Seva Bhavan Amid Construction Concerns

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticised the government, suggesting a name change for the Uttar Pradesh governor's residence. He proposed that Raj Bhavan be renamed Seva Bhavan. Yadav shared a brief video on X, showing construction outside Raj Bhavan, questioning if all necessary approvals were obtained for the work.

Yadav expressed hope that the new construction at Raj Bhavan commenced only after securing approval for the plans, adhering to all standards. He insisted that until the construction is finished, authorities like the Lucknow Development Authority should display the approved plans publicly. This would encourage legal compliance in construction projects.

Proposed Name Change

Yadav suggested replacing "Raj" with "Seva" to reflect democratic values. He argued that the term "Raj" carries colonial connotations from British rule and should be updated to "Seva," making it Seva-Bhawan instead of Rajbhawan. This change, he believes, would better represent democratic ideals.

The SP chief emphasised that displaying the construction plans would inspire others to ensure their projects are legal. He urged responsible departments to make these plans visible near the construction site for public awareness and transparency.
