Nabil Qaouk, Another Senior Hezbollah Commander, Eliminated In Beirut Airstrike: Israel
In a significant development, Nabil Qaouk, a senior Hezbollah commander, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut's Dahiyeh suburb. The area is known as a Hezbollah stronghold. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike on Saturday night, September 28. This follows the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in another airstrike two days earlier.
Qaouk held a prominent position within Hezbollah, serving as the commander of the "preventive security unit" and being part of the central council. His involvement with Hezbollah dates back to the 1980s. He had been instrumental in planning attacks against Israel, according to IDF reports. His death marks another blow to the Iran-backed militant group.

Netanyahu's Remarks on Nasrallah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the recent elimination of Hassan Nasrallah. He described it as crucial for achieving Israel's military objectives. Netanyahu emphasized that targeting Nasrallah was essential because he played a pivotal role in orchestrating plans against Israel.
"Nasrallah was not just another terrorist," Netanyahu stated. "He was the axis of the axis, the main engine of Iran's axis of evil." He further explained that Nasrallah's removal would prevent him from rebuilding Hezbollah's capabilities and shift regional power dynamics.
The Israeli military highlighted Qaouk's close ties with Hezbollah leadership. They noted his direct involvement in recent terror activities targeting Israel and its citizens. His death is seen as part of broader efforts to weaken Hezbollah's operational capacity.
Qaouk's career within Hezbollah saw him rise through various ranks, including deputy head roles in southern Lebanon and the executive council. His strategic importance made him a key target for Israeli forces aiming to dismantle Hezbollah's command structure.
Netanyahu reiterated that neutralising Nasrallah was vital for ensuring long-term security for northern Israel residents. He stressed that without Nasrallah, Hezbollah would struggle to regain lost capabilities, thus altering the balance of power in favour of Israel.
The recent airstrikes reflect ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides experiencing significant losses. These developments underscore the volatile nature of regional conflicts involving state and non-state actors.
