'Movie stars are victims in drugs case, won't be arrested,' says Telangana CM
12 people from the Telugu film industry have been summoned for questioning in connection with the massive drugs haul case.
The Telangana Chief Minister believes that movie stars being questioned in connection with the drugs haul case are victims and therefore should not be arrested. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao claimed that the investigation so far has only pointed to some using drugs and hence they will be treated as victims.

"Trafficking and selling of drugs is a crime but consuming it is not. These persons will be treated as victims and agencies are questioning them to get more information of peddlers. Based on their statements, the SIT will be able to make arrests and conduct raids," KCR said during a meeting with senior police officials. The chief Minister's statements are, however, in violation of NDPS Act that holds addicts also liable.
On being asked to clarify, KCR added that the investigation so far had only revealed that the film personalities were clients of the peddlers. "The investigation has so far revealed that they were only using drugs and not selling them. If it is proved that they are selling drugs, we will register cases against them," the Telangana Chief Minister added.
Drugs from across the globe
During the meeting, it was revealed that traffickers brought in narcotics from foreign countries like Portugal, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Colombia etc. KCR added that the crackdown on drugs will continue and everyone involved will be questioned and action will be initiated.
