Mother Dairy Hikes Milk Prices By Rs 2 per Litre In Delhi-NCR | See The Revised Rates

Mother Dairy and Amul Announce Milk Price Hike

Mother Dairy has announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk prices in Delhi-NCR due to rising input costs over the past 15 months. This price adjustment for all milk variants is effective from Monday (June 3) across Delhi-NCR and other markets.

The Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, also announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk prices, effective from Monday (June 3). These price hikes come shortly after the Lok Sabha elections voting process concluded.

New Prices of Milk

Milk Variant New Price (Rs per litre)
Full Cream Milk 68
Toned Milk 56
Double-Toned Milk 50
Buffalo Milk 72
Cow Milk 58
Token Milk (Bulk Vended Milk) 54

Mother Dairy, which sells 35 lakh litres of fresh milk per day in Delhi-NCR, stated that the price increase is mainly to compensate producers for increased production costs. The company last revised its milk prices in February 2023.

"Despite paying higher prices towards milk procurement in the last few months, the consumer prices were kept intact. Moreover, the heat stress across the country has been unprecedented and it is likely to further impact milk production," Mother Dairy said.

The company allocates approximately 75-80 per cent of its milk sales revenue towards procurement. "The surge in farm prices is only being partially passed on to the consumers, with an effective revision of 3-4 per cent, thereby securing the interests of both the milk producers and the consumers," Mother Dairy added.

Amul's Price Increase

GCMMF, which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, also raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre from Monday. This increase translates to a 3-4 per cent rise in MRP, lower than the average food inflation.

New Prices of Amul Milk

Milk Variant New Price (Rs)
Amul Gold (500 ml) 33
Amul Gold (1 litre) 66
Amul Buffalo Milk (500 ml) 36
Amul Shakti (500 ml) 30

Both companies last increased their milk prices in February 2023. The new rates reflect the ongoing rise in production costs, affecting both producers and consumers.
