Most Polls Predict Mahayuti’s Dominance in Maharashtra
The Axis My India exit poll has forecasted a significant victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti in Maharashtra's assembly elections. This prediction aligns with most other pollsters, indicating a sweeping win for the ruling alliance. The poll suggests Mahayuti could secure between 178 to 200 seats, capturing 48% of the vote share, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) might get 82 to 102 seats with 37% of votes.
Regional Predictions and Vote Shares
In Marathwada, where Mahayuti had previously underperformed, Axis My India predicts a turnaround. Out of 46 seats available, Mahayuti is expected to win 30 seats with a 45% vote share. The MVA is projected to secure 15 seats with 38% votes, while 'Others' might gain one seat with a 12% share. The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) is not expected to win any seats here.

In Mumbai's crucial region, which has 36 seats up for grabs, the pollster anticipates Mahayuti winning 22 seats and MVA securing 14. The vote share difference is predicted to be narrow, with Mahayuti at 45% and MVA at 43%. No other parties are expected to win any seats in this region.
Comparative Analysis by Other Pollsters
Other pollsters have also weighed in on the Maharashtra elections. Matrize's exit poll predicts BJP and allies could win between 150 to 170 seats with a similar vote share of 48%, while Congress and its allies might get only 110 to 130 seats with a vote share of 42%. People's Pulse gives NDA's Mahayuti between 175 to 195 seats, leaving MVA with just 85 to 112.
In contrast, Electoral Edge forecasts a different outcome, predicting MVA could win up to 150 seats compared to Mahayuti's projected tally of around 121. Meanwhile, Lokshahi Rudra anticipates a close contest between the two alliances, giving them nearly equal chances.
Predictions for Other Regions
In Konkan and Thane regions, where there are contests for 39 seats, Axis My India expects Mahayuti to capture about 24 seats with an impressive vote share of 50%. The MVA might secure around 13 seats with a third of the votes. 'Others' are predicted to gain two seats here.
Axis My India stands out as it also predicts success for the Congress-JMM alliance in Jharkhand. They are expected to win between 49 to 59 out of the total of 81 assembly seats there. In contrast, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) may only secure between 17 and 27 seats.
Overall Election Context
Exit polls were released following polling closures in Maharashtra and Jharkhand's second voting phase. These polls suggest victories for both Mahayuti in Maharashtra and NDA in Jharkhand. In Maharashtra's legislative assembly comprising of 288 members, achieving a majority requires securing at least 145 seats.
The Election Commission has previously criticised exit polls due to their methodology and accuracy issues in past elections. Despite this criticism, these predictions continue to shape public expectations ahead of official results scheduled for November 23rd when counting will occur across several states including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
