Modi’s First Mann Ki Baat of 2025: PM Talks Youth Power, Mahakumbh, and India’s Technological Strides

On January 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged the nation with the first Mann ki Baat session of 2025, focusing on the vibrant involvement of youth in the Mahakumbh 2025. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this connection, stating, "It is true that when the young generation proudly joins its civilisation, then its roots become stronger and its golden future is assured." This sentiment reflects a vision for a society deeply anchored in its traditions yet forward-looking.

The Prime Minister's dialogue was not just about cultural immersion but also highlighted key technological and environmental endeavors. He brought attention to India's strides in space technology, particularly mentioning Bengaluru's Pixxel, which launched the world's highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation, 'Firefly'. This advancement underscores India's burgeoning presence in global space technology.

In a significant leap for science, Modi also talked about experiments to cultivate plants in space, pointing out how ISRO scientists have successfully germinated cowpea seeds in space since their launch on December 30. This experiment not only aims at future space habitation but also showcases the visionary approach of Indian scientists. Additionally, the Prime Minister discussed the work of IIT Madras's ExTeM centre in developing new manufacturing technologies for space, including waterless concrete manufacturing, which could revolutionize building processes in extraterrestrial environments.

Unity in Diversity: Mahakumbh 2025

A focal point of Modi's address was the Mahakumbh 2025, where he noted the extensive digital footprint and the event's embodiment of unity in diversity. He described Kumbh as a festival where "People from all over India and the world gather on the sands of Sangam," highlighting the absence of discrimination and the collective participation in rituals, thereby reinforcing the event as a monumental congregation of unity.

The Prime Minister further remarked on the democratic and electoral advancements in the country, expressing gratitude towards the Election Commission for enhancing the electoral process through technology. This not only ensures fair elections but also encourages increased voter participation, reinforcing the democratic fabric of the nation.

Modi's address shed light on the addition of two new tiger reserves in India, manifesting the country's commitment to wildlife conservation. The inauguration of the Guru Ghasidas - Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh and the Ratapani Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh enhances India's rich biodiversity and efforts towards protecting endangered species.

Moreover, he celebrated the recent GI tag acquisition by Virgin coconut oil from the Nicobar, marking a significant step towards the economic empowerment of tribal communities. Following this achievement, women involved in oil production are being organized into self-help groups and receiving specialized training in marketing and branding.

The conversation during the Mann ki Baat also included the rationale behind the timing of the address, with Modi explaining the preponement to accommodate Republic Day celebrations. "You must have noticed one thing, every time Mann Ki Baat takes place on the last Sunday of the month. But this time, we are meeting a week before, on the third Sunday of the month, instead of the fourth month, because next Sunday is Republic Day. I wish all countrymen a happy republic day in advance," he stated.

Highlighting the 75th anniversary of the Republic of India and the implementation of its Constitution, he paid homage to the Constituent Assembly's great personalities. Modi's address encapsulates a broad spectrum of topics, from cultural heritage and civic engagement to technological innovations and environmental conservation, painting a picture of a nation on the move towards a prosperous future rooted in its rich traditions.
