The BJP has denied tickets to at least eight legislators in the first list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election.

The party declared candidates for 189 constituencies out of the total 224 and the list includes 52 new faces.
Minister Angara is among those who have not got the ticket, while most of his cabinet colleagues have got the nod.
Seven other sitting MLAs who have been denied tickets are are- Lalaji R Mendon (Kapu), Raghupathi Bhat (Udupi), Anil S Benake (Belagavi North), Sanjeev Matandur (Puttur), Mahadevappa Shivalingappa Yadawad MLA (Ramadurg), Ramanna Lamani (Shirahatti), and Goolihatti D Shekhar (Hosadurga).
Six-time BJP MLA and minister Angara has made way for Bhagirathi Murulya in Sullia Assembly Constituency.
Lalaji R Mendon has been replaced with Gurme Suresh Shetty in Kaup. Yashpal Suvarna has replaced three-time MLA Raghupathi Bhat in Udupi.
The high command has denied ticket to Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor and Asha Thimmappa Gowda has replaced him.
Mahadevappa Shivalingappa Yadawad has made way for Chikka Revenna. Ramanna Lamani (Shirahatti), and Goolihatti D Shekhar (Hosadurga) have been replaced by Dr Chandru Lamani and S Lingamurthy, respectively.
It has to be noted that five-time Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Halady Srinivvas Shetty, representing the Kundapura Assembly constituency, and KS Eshwarappa, who represented the Shivamogga constituency, have voluntarily decided not to contest the forthcoming polls.
On the other hand, Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has expressed his displeasure against the BJP's central leadership after the party asked him to make way for others in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls.
The BJP is fielding Kiran Kumar Kodgi from the Kundapura constituency. However, the party has not announced tickets yet to Shivamogga and Hubballi-Dharwad Central, the seats represented by senior leaders K S Eshwarappa and Jagadish Shettar.
The BJP on Tuesday released its first list of 189 candidates for the May 10 Karnataka assembly polls.
BJP's Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh said 52 of the 189 candidates are new faces and eight women. Thirty-two of the candidates belong to Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 30 Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 16 Scheduled Tribes (STs).
