Minor girl rescued from Goa hotel; 7 held

Panaji, Jul 15: A 16-year-old girl from Odisha, who was allegedly being pushed into prostitution, has been rescued from a hotel here, following which seven persons have been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

"The teenage girl was allegedly trafficked to Goa and being forced into flesh trade," Police Inspector Paresh Naik said, adding all the arrested accused hail from Odisha.

The girl was rescued from a hotel in the beach village of Anjuna and the rescue was carried out by a team of Anjuna police with the help of a local NGO.

"The girl has been sent for medical examination and her statement is being recorded, while all the accused are booked for human trafficking," Naik said.
