In March 2024, as per the holiday list provided by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across states will be closed for a total of 14 days.

These holidays are determined by both the state governments and the RBI, encompassing all Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, public holidays, and several regional holidays.

March 2024 Bank Holidays

Bank patrons are advised to monitor the upcoming bank holiday dates in March to adequately plan their visits to bank branches. The bank holidays in March 2024 include Chapchar Kut, Mahashivratri (Maha vad-13)/Sivarathri, Bihar Divas, Holi (Second Day) - Dhuleti/Dol Jatra/Dhulandi, Yaosang 2nd Day/Holi, Holi, and Good Friday.

On March 8th, 2024, banks will remain closed due to Mahashivratri, followed by the second Saturday and Sunday. The closure for Mahashivratri will be observed in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttara Khand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jammu- Srinagar, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh, as reported by Economic Times.

Furthermore, many states will experience a long weekend due to the Holi festival, with banks remaining closed for three consecutive days. This holiday falls on Monday, preceded by Sunday and the fourth Saturday. States like Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Uttara Khand, Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Telangana, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh will observe bank closures during this period.

Additional bank holidays in March include Yaosang 2nd Day/Holi on March 26th (observed in Orissa, Manipur, and Bihar) and Holi on March 27th (observed in Bihar). On March 29th, banks will be closed in all states except Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Srinagar.
