Mahagathbandhan Set to Announce Tejashwi Yadav as CM Face Ahead of Bihar Elections

In a significant development ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) is poised to formally announce RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate. The announcement is expected after Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot, along with former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, concluded consultations with alliance partners in Patna to resolve lingering seat-sharing disputes.

Gehlot's Mediation to Ensure Alliance Unity

The internal disagreements between the Congress and RJD over seat allocation had threatened to trigger 'friendly fights' in several constituencies, which could have split opposition votes in favor of the ruling NDA. Gehlot, a former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, was dispatched to Patna as a high-level observer to smooth over differences and ensure the alliance presents a united front.

Before leaving for Bihar, Gehlot told ANI, "All misunderstandings will be cleared. Mahagathbandhan will contest the elections strongly."

Tejashwi as the CM Candidate

Sources suggest that the announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as the alliance's Chief Ministerial face could also serve as a unifying move to consolidate support among Congress, Left parties, and smaller allies. While the Congress has not yet made a formal declaration, it is believed that the party's endorsement of Tejashwi is imminent, signaling that seat-sharing disagreements are close to resolution.

When asked about the ongoing negotiations, Tejashwi Yadav told the media, "You will get all the answers tomorrow," hinting that the CM announcement is near.

Bihar Election Context

Bihar will go to the polls in two phases - November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. The ruling NDA consists of BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, while the opposition Mahagathbandhan includes RJD, Congress, Left parties, and Vikasheel Insaan Party. Adding another dimension is Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj, forming a potential third front.

The formal announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as CM candidate is expected to provide a clear narrative for the opposition ahead of the crucial polls.
