Maha Kumbh 2025: PM Modi Celebrates First Amrit Snan with Heartfelt Wishes

As the Maha Kumbh Mela commenced on January 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes to the devotees participating in the first Amrit Snan on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti. On social media, he expressed his joy over the fusion of devotion and spirituality witnessed at the grand event, sharing images from above that captured the devout in the midst of their holy dip. “A wonderful confluence of devotion and spirituality in Maha Kumbh! Hearty congratulations to all the devotees who took part in the first Amrit Snan at Mahakumbh on the great festival of Makar Sankranti," he posted in Hindi, showcasing the vast gathering at this significant spiritual occasion.

The Akharas, revered sects of seers, embraced the Amrit Snan ritual at the Triveni Sangam—where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers meet—in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This sacred bath marks a pivotal moment in the Maha Kumbh Mela, attracting thousands to participate in the cherished tradition. Among the first to immerse themselves in the holy waters were members of the Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara, following the major 'snan' conducted on 'Paush Purnima' the day before to honor the occasion.

Niranjan Peethadheeshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj, reflecting on the day's significance, told reporters, "We took a bath in Triveni today. Lakhs of devotees have come here to take the holy dip in Ganga. It's the history of Indian culture." This sentiment underscores the deep cultural and spiritual importance of the Maha Kumbh Mela to countless individuals who journey from far and wide for this transformative experience.

Adding to the vibrancy of the event, members of the Kinnar Akhara made their presence felt as they headed to the Sangam, voicing their devotion with chants of "Har Har Mahadev." At the forefront was Acharya Mahamandaleshwar, flanked by other esteemed leaders of the Akhara, all moving together in a solemn procession towards the sacred rivers. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, representing the Kinnar Akhara, shared her joy with ANI, stating, "Today we are at Sangam Teerth. This is the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025 and we are very happy that we got to participate in the Amrit Snan. Wishing everyone a very Happy Makar Sankranti..."

In preparation for these momentous baths, the state government had meticulously planned the schedule, ensuring each of the 13 Akharas knew their designated times for the Amrit Snan. This level of organization reflects the immense significance of the Maha Kumbh Mela, not just as a religious gathering, but as a monumental event in the cultural tapestry of India, drawing the devout and curious alike to partake in its ancient traditions.
