Bhopal, Nov 28: Around 75 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections Wednesday.
In Madhya Pradesh, as many as 2,899 candidates, including 1,094 independents, are in the fray for the 230 seats.
The state has 5.04 crore, eligible voters. Around 3,00,782 government employees, including 45,904 women, were on poll duty and 65,341 polling stations were set up.
Chief Electoral Officer,VL Kantha Rao, said, "883 ballot units and 881 control units were replaced today. 2126 VVPATs were replaced during mock poll and during voting."
The BJP has been power for the past 15 years. The Congress feels that this is its best chance to unseat the BJP, which is riding an anti-incumbency wave.

The naxal-affected districts of Madhya Pradesh are Anooppur, Balaghat, Chhindawara, Dindori, Mandla, Shahdol, Sidhi Seoni and Singroli. But poll timings have been modified for only three constituencies - Lanji, Paraswada and Baihar - in Balaghat district.
