Madhya Pradesh: 2 Heinous Rape Cases In A Week; MP Ranks 3rd In India For Rape Incidents - State Wise List
Madhya Pradesh has recently been in the spotlight for a series of disturbing incidents of violence against women, reinforcing its position as one of the most unsafe states for women in India. Two shocking incidents of rape were reported this week, highlighting the ongoing crisis of sexual violence in the state.
Two Harrowing Incidents

Indore District Attack: On Tuesday evening, two young army officers and their female companion were brutally attacked near Jam Gate in Indore district. The armed assailants gang-raped the woman after overpowering and assaulting the officers. The victims, who were undergoing training at Mhow Army College, were ambushed by eight men wielding weapons. The attackers demanded a ransom of ₹10 lakh after taking one officer and one woman hostage. The police and military responded promptly, but the attackers fled the scene.
Rape on a Footpath: Just days before this incident, a woman was raped on a footpath in broad daylight, an act that was recorded by a passerby on his phone. The police have arrested both the accused and the individual who filmed the incident. This brazen crime, caught on camera, has drawn widespread condemnation and raised questions about the safety of women in public spaces.
These incidents underscore the troubling pattern of crimes against women in Madhya Pradesh, which has earned the ignominious title of the third most unsafe state for women in India, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data.
