Over Half of Lok Sabha Election Nominations Rejected in Ghaziabad, Noida

In a significant development in the political landscape of western Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar has seen a substantial number of rejections. According to official statements from the district election offices, 60% of the nominations in Ghaziabad and nearly 56% in Gautam Buddh Nagar were deemed invalid after scrutiny.

High Nomination Rejection in Elections

In Ghaziabad, out of 35 candidates who filed their nominations, only 14 were approved. Similarly, in Gautam Buddh Nagar, 15 out of 34 nominations passed the scrutiny phase. This resulted in a total of 40 rejections out of 69 nominations across both constituencies. The high rate of nomination rejections underscores the rigorous vetting process undertaken by the election offices to ensure compliance with electoral regulations.

The electoral battle in Ghaziabad will witness participation from candidates across various political spectrums. Notable among them are BJP's Atul Garg, Congress's Dolly Sharma, BSP's Nand Kishor Pundir, and candidates from other parties including Rashtra Nirman Party and Rashtriya Jan Karmath Party. Additionally, six independent candidates are also vying for a seat in this constituency.

Gautam Buddh Nagar's electoral scene is equally competitive with BJP's Mahesh Sharma, Samajwadi Party's Mahendra Singh Nagar, BSP's Rajendra Singh Solanki among the key contenders. The constituency also sees participation from candidates representing smaller parties and independent nominees striving to make their mark.

Upcoming Electoral Milestones

Both constituencies are gearing up for the next phases of the election process. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is set for April 8, with the polls scheduled on April 26. Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar collectively boast an electorate strength of approximately 55 lakh voters, highlighting the significance of these constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections.

The rejection rates observed in the nomination scrutiny process reflect the stringent measures in place to ensure that candidates meet all required criteria.
