Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress To Announce Candidates For Amethi, Raebareli Today

For the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the suspense over names for two hot seats, Amthi and Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, will end today. It is expected that Congress will announce candidates for Amthi and Raebareli as only one day for the nomination is left. Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge told the media that candidates have already finalized the 'surprising' announcement will be made soon.

If media reports are to be believed then Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi may contest the elections from Amethi and Raebareli, however, Mallikarjun Kharge and Robert Vadra's names are also in talks.

On the other hand, the BJP has again fielded union minister Smriti Irani, who defeated the former Congress president in 2019 with a margin of over 55000 votes.

Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said "The Gandhi family is very popular and lakhs of people are coming to their public meetings. The decision has been now left to the CEC."

Senior Congress leader Raj Babbar said the film that has suspense till last, turns out to be a superhit. Wait and watch, the party will give strong candidates on both the seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi From Raebareli?

After former Congress Working Committee (CWC) chief Sonia Gandhi decided to move to the Rajya Sabha, the hunt for a candidate to represent the grand old party's bastion, Raebareli, started. Speculations on Priyanka Gandhi's name started to surface.

Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi said that she doesn't want to contest elections and believes that her efforts would be more beneficial to the party if she focuses on campaigning across Uttar Pradesh rather than contesting from a single seat.

Meanwhile, the party's internal report claimed that the people of Amethi and Raebareli are seeking candidates from Gandhi family and are ready to support them.

Rahul Gandhi For Amethi?

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who was elected from Wayanad seat last time after losing Amethi, is most likely to take on BJP's Smriti Irani once again. He defeated her in 2014, but lost in 2019, and third time, she would eye to avenge the defeat.
