Law Student Demands Parking Receipt, Assaulted by Operators in Jabalpur

In a disturbing incident in Jabalpur, a law student was allegedly assaulted by the personnel of a cycle stand contractor after he requested a receipt for a parking fee. The event occurred on Wednesday at the district collector's office, according to police reports. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Komal Singh, is also a member of the Mahakoushal Law Student Association. Singh had gone to the collector's office for official purposes and parked his bicycle at the designated stand.

Student Assaulted Over Parking Receipt

The altercation ensued when Singh was leaving the office and was asked to pay a parking fee by the stand operator. Upon requesting a receipt for the transaction, Singh was reportedly attacked by the contractor's men. The assault led to an immediate response from members of the Mahakoushal Law Student Association, who gathered at the site to protest and demand action against the contractor and his associates.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the cycle parking area was being operated illegally. The contractor, known as Nattu, along with his associates Shambhu and Saddam, were found to be running the stand without a valid agreement, which had expired some time ago. Following a complaint lodged by Singh, the Omti police station registered an FIR against Nattu and his two associates. Virendra Singh, in-charge of Omti police station, confirmed these details.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety and legality of parking operations within the district collector's office premises in Jabalpur. The local law enforcement's swift action in registering an FIR highlights their commitment to addressing such grievances promptly. However, this event also underscores the need for stricter regulation and oversight of parking facilities, especially those operating in significant public areas.

The community's reaction, spearheaded by the Mahakoushal Law Student Association's protest, demonstrates a collective demand for accountability and justice in response to unlawful activities and misconduct. As investigations continue, this case serves as a critical reminder of the importance of legal compliance and ethical conduct in all aspects of public service provision.
