Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Psychoanalytic Test Reveals Accused Sanjay Roy Has 'Animal-Like Instincts'

Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the Kolkata rape-murder case, was described as having "animal-like instincts" and an addiction to pornography, according to a psychoanalytic profile conducted by experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).

The profile, ordered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 18, revealed that Roy exhibited no remorse for his actions.

"The man showed no repentance and narrated the entire episode giving every minute detail without hiccups. It appeared that he had no remorse," a CBI official told PTI on Thursday.

Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, was arrested a day after the body of a 31-year-old trainee doctor was discovered at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.

Before the case was transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court, local police had found extensive pornographic material on Roy's mobile phone.

The CBI officer also said that both technical and scientific evidence "very much support" Roy's presence at the crime scene.

CCTV footage from the hospital captured Roy near the chest department ward around 11 am on August 8.

Further investigations revealed that Roy visited a 'red light area' in North Kolkata after midnight on August 8. He was reportedly intoxicated and later requested a random woman to send him a nude photograph.

"Footage showed him entering the same building again at around 4 am on August 9. Certain technical and scientific evidence corroborated that," the officer added.

CBI officers also visited Roy's residence in Bhowanipore, where they interviewed his family, neighbors, and colleagues from the Kolkata Police.

However, the CBI official declined to provide details about the DNA tests conducted on Roy or comment on rumors of gang rape.
