Kharge's Sharp Retort To PM Modi: Correcting Misinformation On Congress Manifesto 2024

A letter was written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, seeking his time to explain the grand old party's 'Nyay Patra'.

In defence of the Congress manifesto, it was stated by Kharge that the 'Nyay Patra' is aimed at providing justice to youngsters, women, farmers, labourers, and marginalized people across castes and communities.

It was added by Kharge that "misinformation by advisors about things not even written in our manifesto" was being received by Modi. He expressed willingness to meet in person to explain the 'Nyay Patra' so that false statements are not made as the prime minister of the country.

It was mentioned by the Congress chief that "a few words taken out of context, create communal divide" had become the prime minister's habit. Referring to Modi's recent speeches, it was stated by the Congress leader that he is 'neither shocked nor surprised by the language used by the prime minister.'

It was added that "it was expected that you and other leaders from your party would start speaking in this manner after you saw the dismal performance of the BJP in the first phase of the elections." It was stated by him that "the deprived poor and their rights ('nyay') have been talked about by the Congress. It was emphasized that you and your government do not have any concern for the poor and dispossessed."

'Your suit-boot ki sarkar works for corporates': Kharge

Continuing his attack on the prime minister, it was stated by Kharge, "Your 'suit-boot ki sarkar' works for the corporates whose taxes were reduced while the salaried class pays higher taxes. Higher taxes are paid by the salaried class, while the poor pay GST even on food and salt, and the rich corporate claim GST refunds. That is why, when inequality between the rich and the poor is talked about, it is purposely equated with Hindu and Muslim."

"Our manifesto is for the people of India -- whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, or Buddhist. I think you have still not forgotten your pre-Independence allies, the Muslim League, and colonial masters," he said.

Kharge's counter came after a series of attacks by the prime minister in recent election speeches. From calling the Congress manifesto an 'imprint of Muslim League' to alleging the grand old party of plotting to 'redistribute assets', Modi has minced no words in attacking the principal opposition party at his rallies.
