Kerala: Gas leak from factory leaves nearly 70 students hospitalised
Kollam, Aug 7: Around 70 children in Kollam district in Kerala were hospitalised on Thursday as the result of a gas leak from a unit of the state-run Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML).

According to NDTV reports, 16 children are in the intensive care unit. The students, all from a government school in the neighbourhood, complained of nausea and breathing problems.

Reportedly, the leaked gas is believed to be Sulphur Dioxide.

Another gas leak from the same factory had left over 40 people, including students, hospitalised on Wednesday, said the report. Similar leaks have been reported from the factory earlier in 2007 and 2011.

However, the Factor officials have denied the charges. Their unit was closed today, they said.
