Kerala Bar Association suspends woman lawyer for FB post

The Bar Association held that Anima's FB post was a severe misconduct that needed suspension and that they would offer her an opportunity to appeal against the decision.
Anima, in her FB post written in Malayalam, said how she was irritated by the silly behaviour of several men she met in Bar and court premises. "Like in old Prem Nazir movies", she says, "the men call you sugar candy, my sweet one and try to impress you. They tell you that you are beautiful". She also said that the men want every new woman in the office to be their 'lover' or 'sister'. She said that it is pathetic to see how men stoop so low.
Anima, who is now receiving support from all over the state, said that the Bar Association's act is unjustified. "I have just commented on the unpleasant experiences I had from some of the colleagues. I didn't even mention the names of the persons from whom I had bad experiences. I don't know how it will defame the Bar Association or advocates' community. The disciplinary actions were conducted in my absence after rejecting my request for the postponement of the date of personal hearing," Anima said.
