15-year-old girl succumbs to injuries

On Friday afternoon, a Class 10 student of the ICSE school Trinity Lyceum school at Thanagassery in Kollam city jumped off the building, allegedly because she was scolded by one of her teachers for reportedly picking a fight with another student - a classmate of her younger sister. Her sister studies in Class 8 in the same school. The girl has been identified as Gauri Neha of Ramankulangara in Kollam.

According to girl's father, Gauri was mentally harassed by the teacher after which she jumped off from the building.

It is learnt that Gauri's sister who was in 8th standard was forced to sit amidst boys as a form of punishment for speaking in the class. The girl informed this to her parents after which it was resolved. But a similar situation arose, and the girl informed her sister Gauri. Both were teased by their friends and ended up in a verbal spat. The teacher had to intervene and reprimanded the girls, after which Gauri jumped off from the building due to the mental harassment.

She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition. Later, she was transferred to a specialty hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The police said a clash between two groups of students at the school led to the incident.

The Kollam Police had registered a case against two teachers identified as Crescent and Sindhu of the school in connection with the incident.
