Kanpur Woman, Who Went Missing 4 Months Ago, Killed By Gym Trainer. Body Exhumed From VVIP Area

A woman's body was discovered near the Kanpur District Magistrate's bungalow, four months after she was allegedly murdered.

The accused, Vimal Soni, a gym trainer in the Green Park area, confessed during police questioning that he had buried the body of the businessman's wife in a location allocated to government officials' bungalows.

Soni, a resident of Kanpur's Raipurwa locality, informed the police of the exact spot where the body was found, leading authorities to unearth it from the ground.

The woman had been missing since June 24, with an investigation later concluding she was dead.

DCP (North Kanpur) Shravan Kumar Singh informed reporters that the woman was distressed over Soni's impending marriage, with whom she was allegedly having an extra marital affair.

On the day of the incident, she visited the gym after a 20-day absence, and the two entered a car to talk.

A heated argument erupted, during which he struck her in the neck, causing her to faint. He subsequently murdered her.

Singh noted that tracking Soni proved challenging, as he did not use a mobile phone. Investigation teams were dispatched to Pune, Agra, and Punjab. Singh added they are still determining whether he took the jewellery the woman was wearing.

Legal proceedings, registered at Kotwali district police station, are underway following a thorough investigation of all aspects of the case.
