Bihar's Kalpana Kumari tops NEET 2018, scores 691 out of 720

Last year, Punjab's Navdeep Singh had topped NEET with a total score of 697 marks.

NEET UG 2018 results were declared today (June 4) in which Bihar's Kalpana Kumari topped by scoring 99.99 percentile. The All India Rank (AIR) 1, Kumari, scored 171 out of 180 in Physics, 160 out of 180 in Chemistry, 360 out of 360 in Biology. Overall her score is 691 out of 720.

Telangana's Rohan Purohit and Delhi's Himanshu Sharma jointly bagged the second position with 690 marks. The third rank was shared by Aarosh Dhamija from Delhi and Prince Chaudhary from Rajasthan, both of whom scored 686 marks. A total of 13.36 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, a 16.49-per cent increase from last year.

CBSE conducts NEET UG exam for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. It is a nationally conducted exam and apart form AIIMS and JIPMER, rest all other medical and dental institutes accept NEET score for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses.

The exam was conducted on May 6 this year and over 13 lakh candidates had appeared for the same. Earlier, the CBSE had released the answer keys on May 25 and the candidates were given a chance to raise objections on the answer keys till May 27. According to students, the Physics paper was lengthier than last year with an increase in the application based and calculative questions.
