J&K assembly polls: PM Narendra Modi to address 8 rallies; BJP releases 1st list of Candidates

The Central Election Committee of the BJP held a meeting that was attended by the party President Amit Shah, PM Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and other senior members.
To fulfill party's "Mission 44" in 87-member house, the BJP's star campaigner and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address at least 8 election rallies including in Kashmir Valley, Ladakh and other areas, beginning from November 10, Monday.
Experts are of the view that Modi's presence in Kashmir will surely help the party in J&K, where it is not a major force.
BJP is also focusing on registration of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandit migrants as voters.
PM Modi's recent gestures like his four times visit to the state and decision to celebrate Diwali with flood victims has reportedly given big push to party's prospect.
BJP President Amit Shah and the Home Minister Rajnath Singh are also likely to attend PM's rallies in J&K.
BJP MP and party in charge for Jammu and Kashmir, Avinash Rai Khanna on October 27, Monday had said, "We will go beyond 44 seats and form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. Our manifesto is clear, we will provide a corruption free, fear free and dynasty free governance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We want the people of the state to give us a chance and if we fail they can throw us out after six years."
Jammu and Kashmir is all set to hold 5 phase assembly elections starting from November 25, December 2, December 9, December 14 and December 20.
The counting of votes will take place on December 23, Tuesday.
In 2008 assembly elections, the BJP had got only 11 seats, National Conference (NC)- 28, PDP- 21 and Congress 17 seats.
During this year's Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 3 seats Ladakh, Jammu and Udhampur out of 6.
