Jammu Lawyer Arrested for Forging Court Order to Illegally Release Seized Vehicle

A lawyer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly orchestrating a forgery involving the release of a vehicle seized in a mining case. The release was facilitated using a fake court order, counterfeit stamps, and a judge's signature, according to officials. The incident led to the registration of a case at Janipur Police Station following a complaint from the 3rd Additional Munsiff, Jammu, through the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

Jammu Lawyer Arrested for Forgery

The complaint, filed on December 19, requested the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to speed up the investigation. It detailed how a forged court release order with counterfeit stamps and a judge's signature, along with a fake receipt for Rs 50,000, was used to unlawfully release the vehicle. The Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police responded by forming an SIT to gather evidence.

Forgery Investigation Unfolds

The SIT collected significant evidence, including the fabricated court order and fraudulent receipt. After an intensive investigation, Advocate Basharat Ahmed Khan was identified as the main suspect in the forgery case and subsequently arrested. He is currently detained at Nagrota Police Station, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

A search conducted at Khan's residence in the presence of an Executive Magistrate resulted in the recovery of the mobile phone allegedly used to produce the fake documents. Additional electronic devices such as a computer and printer were also seized during the search. These items were believed to have been used in creating the counterfeit receipt involved in the crime.

The investigation highlights the meticulous efforts by law enforcement to uncover and address fraudulent activities. The arrest of Advocate Basharat Ahmed Khan marks a significant step in resolving this case. Authorities continue to examine all evidence to ensure justice is served.
