J&K Gunfight: Soldier Loses Life, 3 Injured In Kishtwar Anti-Terror Operation

A gunbattle with terrorists in Chatroo village, Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the death of a soldier and injuries to three others on Friday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Naidgham area of the Chhatroo belt after receiving a tip-off, according to police officials. The operation led to an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists hiding in the Pingnal Dugadda forest, located in the upper reaches of Naidgham village under the Chhatroo Police Station.

The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army shared details of the incident on X, confirming that a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police was initiated based on intelligence inputs.

"Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched in the Chatroo area of #Kishtwar," stated the Corps.

The encounter with the terrorists began at 3:30 PM, during which four army personnel were injured. The operation is ongoing, the Corps added.

One of the injured soldiers has been evacuated to the nearby Command Hospital for treatment, while the other three are receiving medical care locally.
