Is Your IND vs PAK Ticket Real Or Fake? How To Spot The Difference

Recently, the Ahmedabad city Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested four college dropouts who were in possession of counterfeit tickets for the highly-anticipated India-Pakistan ODI World Cup match. A total of 150 fake tickets were confiscated, comprising 108 ready for sale, along with four pages of printed tickets and an additional four damaged pages. These fake tickets were being offered at prices ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000.

However, the plot thickened as further investigation revealed the existence of another network engaged in the sale of counterfeit tickets for the same match on a nationwide scale, potentially involving crores of rupees.

To spot a genuine ticket and avoid counterfeit ones, you can follow the tips provided by DCP Chaitanya Mandlik:

• Dynamic Color-Infused Paper: Genuine tickets are printed on unique paper that contains a dynamic color infusion. If the ticket has been tampered with or is a counterfeit, a distinct pink hue may appear when it's tampered with. So, check the paper carefully for any unusual color changes.
• Tamper-Evident Void Indicator: Genuine tickets have tamper-evident features. Any modifications or alterations made to the ticket are usually easily noticeable. Look for any signs of tampering or void indicators on the ticket.
• Microscopic Security Lines: Real tickets often contain microscopic security lines that are not visible to the naked eye. To check for these lines, you may need a magnifying glass. These lines serve as a further confirmation of the ticket's authenticity. Counterfeit tickets may lack these microscopic details.
• Personalized Barcode: Each genuine ticket comes with a personalised barcode. This barcode is unique to each ticket and is used for verification at the entry point. Counterfeit tickets may not have authentic barcodes.
