Inspired by Ajay Devgan's movie Drishaym, Patna man kills woman, destroys evidence
Patna, Feb 5: 38-year-old Rajnish Singh, a resident of Patna, Bihar committed a heinous crime after being inspired by Ajay Devgan's movie Drishyam.
In the crime-thriller, Ajay Devgan and his family members (reel life) killed a man but they destroyed all evidences and escaped after creating confusion among the police officers.
Inspired by the movie, Rajnish killed Shristi Jain and tried to destroy all evidences against him. However, his plans did not work well and he was taken under police custody.
Rajnish had met Shristi on a matrimonial site. Despite being married for many years and having two kids, Rajnish told Shrishti that he was unmarried.
After getting to know Rajnish, Shristi decided to meet him face to face and hence reached Patna. However, she soon realised that Rajnish was a fraud and book train ticket to leave Patna.
Rajnish along with his cousin accosted Shristi and shot her at point-blank range and escaped. During police investigation, Rajnish reportedly confessed to his crime. He also told interrogators that he had killed Shristi after their wedding talks fell through and tried to destroy the evidence.
Rajnish, who had seen the film Drishyam in 2015, said that he threw his phone on a passing truck to hoodwink the cops, just the way Ajay Devgn had done in the film.
"But the cell phone fell on the truck and got broken," he said. He also got his Royal Enfield motorcycle thrown in the Ganga taking a leaf out of an identical scene from Drishyam. "I hired a boat and paid the boatman Rs 500 to get the motorcycle thrown in the river," he added.
