India TV-CNX Survey: Analysing The CAA Implementation Impact Ahead Of Elections
The long-awaited implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), just weeks before the Lok Sabha elections, has ignited a political firestorm. The law, which promises citizenship for persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, has drawn criticism from various political quarters, alleging it to be a strategic move by the Modi government before the polls.
India TV-CNX conducted an opinion poll to gauge public sentiment regarding the potential impact of CAA implementation on the upcoming elections.

According to the survey findings, 72% of respondents believe that the implementation of CAA will add to the polarization within the country. Only 2% expressed confidence that Muslims would perceive Prime Minister Modi positively due to this move, while 20% were of the opinion that it would have no significant impact. Six percent of respondents abstained from offering an opinion.
The poll also suggests 62% of respondents anticipate that CAA implementation will benefit the BJP in the elections, whereas 24% believe it will have a detrimental effect on the party's prospects. Fourteen percent of respondents refrained from expressing an opinion on this matter.
Regarding Muslim respondents, 65% indicated that they have concerns about CAA implementation, while a mere 2% expressed confidence in the government's actions, with 33% remaining undecided.
Hindu respondents' analysis reveals 35% attribute Muslim worries over CAA implementation to negative campaigning by the Opposition, while 21% cite incendiary speeches by religious leaders as a contributing factor. Additionally, 32% of Hindu voters express doubts about the government's intentions behind CAA, while 12% refrained from expressing an opinion.
