INDIA Bloc Candidates Unite to Contest Uttar Pradesh Bypolls Using Cycle Symbol

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav announced that INDIA bloc candidates will contest all nine seats in the upcoming bypolls using the party's election symbol, the cycle. He emphasised that the alliance's decision was driven by a desire for victory rather than seat-sharing arrangements. Yadav stated, "Congress and Samajwadi Party are united and stand shoulder to shoulder for a big victory. India bloc is going to write a new chapter of victory in this by-election."

INDIA Bloc to Contest UP Bypolls on Cycle

Yadav expressed confidence that the cooperation within the INDIA bloc has energised its workers across all nine assembly seats. He noted that this collaboration has instilled a strong resolve to win among the members. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister highlighted that the upcoming election will focus on safeguarding the Constitution, maintaining peace, and upholding the dignity of Pichchde backwards, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak minorities.

Focus on Key Constituencies

The bypolls are scheduled for November 13 in nine constituencies: Katehari Ambedkar Nagar, Karhal Mainpuri, Meerapur Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Majhawan Mirzapur, Sishamau Kanpur city, Khair Aligarh, Phulpur Prayagraj, and Kundarki Moradabad. Eight of these seats became vacant after their MLAs were elected as MPs in the Lok Sabha. The Sisamau seat requires a bypoll due to SP MLA Irfan Solanki's disqualification following a criminal conviction.

The Election Commission has confirmed by-elections on these nine seats but excluded Milkipur Ayodhya. The deadline for filing nominations is October 25. The Samajwadi Party has already announced its candidates for Karhal, Sisamau, Phulpur, Milkipur, Katehari, Majahawan, and Meerapur.

Alliance Dynamics and Seat Allocation

Initially, Congress sought five out of ten assembly seats including Milkipur. However, last week it was agreed that Congress would contest only two seats: Ghaziabad and Khair Aligarh. The remaining seats were left to the Samajwadi Party. This arrangement reflects strategic decisions within the alliance aimed at maximising electoral success.

The counting of votes is set for November 23. This timeline allows parties to prepare thoroughly for both campaigning and post-election processes. As the election date approaches, all parties involved are intensifying their efforts to secure victories in these crucial bypolls.

The INDIA bloc's strategy underscores its commitment to achieving significant electoral gains through unity and shared objectives. By focusing on key issues such as constitutional protection and minority rights, the alliance aims to resonate with voters across these constituencies.
