IMD Announces Rare Planetary Parade: Witness Stunning Alignment Of 6 Planets In 2025!
Get ready for a celestial show like never before! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has teased one of the rarest astronomical events of the decade: a planetary parade that will light up the sky from January 21 to February 2025. This awe-inspiring phenomenon will see six of our Solar System's planets aligning, creating an unforgettable sight in the night sky.

IMD Forecasts Stunning February Sky
What is a Planetary Parade?
A planetary parade, also known as a planetary alignment, occurs when multiple planets in our solar system align in a straight line, as seen from Earth. On January 25, 2025, we'll witness a rare configuration where planets like Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will appear in an arc across the sky. But that's not all! IMD reveals that certain planets like Jupiter and Mars will be visible with the naked eye in the Eastern sky, while Saturn and Venus will be visible in the Western sky. Uranus and Neptune, however, will require a telescope to be seen.
A Celestial Ballet: The Science Behind the Alignment
The alignment is a result of the differing orbital speeds of the planets. For instance, Mercury zips around the Sun in just 88 days, while Neptune takes a mind-boggling 60,190 days for a single orbit. These differences in revolution periods cause the planets to align at various intervals, creating moments of stunning alignment visible from Earth. The upcoming spectacle, however, won't see the planets perfectly aligned in a straight line. Instead, they'll form an arc across the sky, creating a majestic view.
IMD Forecasts Stunning February Sky: Why This Event is So Special
The IMD has called this alignment one of the "rarest astronomical events," making it a must-see for all skywatchers. While such planetary parades aren't completely unheard of, this alignment will be exceptional in its visibility and the planets it includes. According to NASA, the event will begin on January 21 and peak around January 29, continuing to be visible until mid-February. This is an event that promises to leave sky-gazers spellbound.
Prepare to Witness a Cosmic Wonder
As the planetary parade approaches, get your telescopes ready, or simply gaze up into the sky to witness this once-in-a-lifetime celestial spectacle. Whether you're in India or anywhere across the globe, this rare alignment will be a true marvel of the night sky. Don't miss out on this magnificent display of cosmic harmony!
