Special surveillance teams are now active at pubs, hotels, restaurants, and event venues. The Commissioner has mandated continuous monitoring of individuals with past drug-related offences over the last two years. Officials have been tasked with compiling a detailed list of known drug peddlers and consumers.
Security Measures and Public Safety
To ensure public safety, check-posts and barricades will be established at key locations like Maitrivanam, Necklace Road, Tank Bund, and KBR Park. The Commissioner highlighted that while security will be stringent, it should not inconvenience the general public. Officers are instructed to facilitate a safe and peaceful celebration.
The police will also monitor private gatherings in service apartments and hostels to prevent illegal activities. A mandatory closing time of 1:00 am has been set for all New Year events at pubs, hotels, and restaurants. Violators risk immediate license cancellation if found engaging in illegal activities.
Focus on Drug Prevention
The crackdown extends beyond public venues to include private gatherings. Police will track individuals entering the city for festivities to prevent illicit activities. The Commissioner stressed that no drug cases should be reported during these celebrations, aiming to uphold the prestige of the City Police.
"Our resolve is that not a single drug case should be reported in Hyderabad during these celebrations. We are deploying special forces to achieve this. Every officer must work in coordination to uphold the prestige of the City Police," Sajjanar stated.
The comprehensive security plan aims to manage the influx of revellers while ensuring celebrations remain safe and orderly. The police's role is to act as facilitators for a secure New Year celebration without causing public inconvenience.
