Hyderabad couple buys girl for Rs 250, force her to beg

Hyderabad, Feb 9: A daily wage labourer couple from the Ranga Reddy district bought a minor girl of 13 years for Rs 250 in Mumbai and then forced her to beg back home. 13-year old was 'adopted' by Puja V. Basamma and V. Ramulu by an unknown person.

They brought her to Manthati village and made her do household work. Basheerabad SI G. Abhinava Chathurvedi, further said that the couple then started sending her to beg at the Tundur bus stop in the evening after work. Following which, the girl gave her earnings to the couple, except the money that went in travelling.

On Jan 7, police got a tip off and rescued the girl. The police have now registered a case against the couple for human trafficking and forced labour.She was parone of the 300 children rescued from forced labour in the district.
