How BJP Is Prepping Up For Haryana Assembly Elections?

The BJP has revamped its strategies after losing a significant number of seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The party is considering cutting tickets for several sitting MLAs and ministers in Haryana, relying instead on new faces and active workers.

In Haryana, BJP won only five out of ten Lok Sabha seats contested. Out of 90 assembly seats, the party has an advantage in 44, trailing the India bloc led by Congress in 46 seats.

How BJP Is Prepping Up For Haryana Assembly Elections

To address this, the BJP has started preparing to turn these 46 lost seats into victories. The Haryana BJP Core Group recently held marathon meetings in Delhi at the camp office of state election in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. These meetings focused on strategies for the assembly elections and the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

During these meetings, the performance of current MLAs and ministers over the past five years was scrutinised. The party is considering alternative leaders who have been active at district and assembly levels.

This move aims to avoid mistakes made during the Lok Sabha elections when voter displeasure against sitting MPs led to losses.

Sources indicate that the BJP has already started preparations for rallies led by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, state president Mohan Lal Badoli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah has already addressed two rallies in Haryana since the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP is mobilising its core voters through social media and ground-level efforts. The strategy focuses on backward communities and core vote banks such as baniyas, upper castes, and non-Jat OBC voters. The party hopes for support from RSS volunteers to reach out to these groups effectively.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will start his campaign for the state assembly elections from Kurukshetra on August 4. Similar events are planned across all 90 assembly seats. The BJP plans to project Saini as the main face of the party in this election.

Leadership Confidence

The party leadership believes that the new CM has successfully controlled anti-incumbency sentiments within a few months. He has gradually established himself as a credible alternative to Manohar Lal Khattar.

The BJP's strategy includes focusing on the 46 seats where they lost while maintaining their hold on the 44 seats where they are ahead. This dual approach aims to maximise their chances in the upcoming assembly elections.

By deploying an army of workers and supporters both online and offline, the BJP hopes to galvanise its voter base. The party believes that effective mobilisation of its core voters will ensure a third term in Haryana's government.

The BJP's faith in CM Saini's leadership is evident as they prepare for a robust campaign before the assembly elections are announced. With rallies and events planned across Haryana, the party aims to strengthen its position and secure a majority in the state assembly.
