Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta pledges inclusive development for all communities

Newly appointed Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta thanked President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the responsibility and said he will focus on inclusive development across the state. He also urged continued mutual respect and goodwill between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, citing shared cultural and historical links.

Newly-appointed Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta said the role would be used for the state’s overall development. Gupta said every community should be included in governance benefits. The former lieutenant governor of Ladakh made the remarks after taking oath on Tuesday. Gupta arrived in Jammu on Wednesday and thanked the national leadership.

Gupta expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the responsibility. Gupta said the leadership expected fair outcomes for all social groups. "I thank the president and the prime minister for giving me this opportunity. After seven months, I have been given a chance to work in a large state. They expect that every section of society is taken along for the betterment of Himachal,\" Gupta said.

Kavinder Gupta priorities for Himachal Pradesh Governor role

Gupta said the office of governor was not linked to any political party. Gupta said work would continue with both ruling and opposition groups. Youth empowerment, better higher education, and support for the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 stayed central. Gupta also referred to Make in India while speaking on industrial progress.

\"We are focusing on youth. The prime minister often emphasises that 75 per cent of our population is young, and efforts should be made for their welfare,\" Gupta said. Gupta said youth engagement would include skills training and useful social participation. Gupta said such measures should also support economic activity and better opportunities for young people.

Kavinder Gupta on drug-free Himachal Pradesh Governor agenda

Gupta stressed the need to make Himachal drug-free to protect younger people. Gupta said the challenge needed joint work by the government and civil society. Communities also had a role in stopping substance abuse. Gupta said combined action would help reduce harm and improve public safety across the hill state.

Kavinder Gupta plans for tourism and organic farming as Himachal Pradesh Governor

Gupta said Himachal had scope in religious tourism and adventure tourism. Gupta also highlighted organic farming as a key area for growth. Gupta said the state’s conditions could support sustainable agriculture. Gupta said organic methods could protect the environment and raise farm earnings for stronger rural livelihoods.

Kavinder Gupta remarks on Jammu and Kashmir ties as Himachal Pradesh Governor

On reports about alleged harassment of people from Jammu and Kashmir in Himachal Pradesh, Gupta said, \"I have not had much time yet, but good relations should exist between J-K and Himachal, which share deep cultural and historical links. The mutual respect and goodwill should be preserved. Our language, culture and civilisation are similar. During the Dogra rule, Himachal was also part of their state. Even today, songs here mention places like Chamba and Kangra. That mutual love and affection should be maintained.\"

Gupta, 66, resigned as the lieutenant governor of Ladakh on Tuesday. Gupta had served the Union Territory for more than eight months. A senior BJP leader from Jammu, Gupta earlier served as deputy chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta also served as Assembly speaker and as the mayor of Jammu.
