Haryana Congress MLA Mamman Khan Arrested, To Be Produced Before Court Today
Haryana Congress MLA Mamman Khan has been arrested by the police in connection with the Nuh violence that shook the state in July of this year. According to ANI, ADGP Mamta Singh has confirmed Khan's arrest. Security measures have been heightened outside the Nuh District Court, where Mamman Khan is scheduled to be presented today. Khan had previously failed to comply with police summons for questioning on two occasions.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the violence case had earlier issued a notice to Mamman on August 25, accusing him of inciting violence, and had requested his participation in the investigation by August 31. In response to the notice, the MLA provided a medical certificate stating that he was suffering from a fever. Subsequently, the police issued a second notice on September 5 and then again on September 10, but Khan did not respond.

Mamman Khan filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking to prevent his arrest by the police. He argued that the case should be investigated by an SIT overseen by higher-ranking officials. The high court issued a notice to the state government and the relevant authorities and advised Khan to file a petition in the lower court. The next court date is scheduled for October 19. It was asserted on behalf of the MLA that he was not present in the area on the day of the incident, although the police claimed to have collected substantial evidence against him.
