Had no money to raise a voice for Kirpal: Sister of dead Indian in Pak prison
Wagah, April 13: A 50-year old Indian national who was arrested in Pakistan on charges of spying has died in a Pakistani jail, after 25 years in captivity.
Kirpal Singh had crossed the Wagah border into Pakistan in 1992 and was arrested immediately. He was subsequently given the death sentence in a serial bomb blast case in Pakistan's punjab province.
An officer in Kot Lakhpat Jail said,"Kirpal Singh was found dead at his cell in early hours of Monday at Kot Lakhpat Jail." He further added that the body has been shifted to Jinnah hospital for autopsy.
The judicial magistrate also recorded the testimonies of the fellow prisoners. One of them said that he was suffering from pain in the chest and died instantly. Apparently, the death was due to natural causes.
Meanwhile, Kirpal's sister and other relatives said that they could not raise voice for him because of financial pressures and no politician came forward to plead his case.
