In a heart-wrenching incident, a four-year-old girl named Jasmine lost her life on Monday in Gurugram after being buried under debris when a JCB machine, engaged in road widening work, collided with a wall, causing it to collapse onto an adjoining slum where the child was sleeping.

Sequence of Events
The unfortunate event unfolded in the Bengali Market area of Sector 81 around 12:30 pm during road expansion work undertaken by the Manesar Municipal Corporation. While digging the road, the JCB collided with a wall, resulting in its collapse. Tragically, a portion of a slum located on the other side of the 10-foot wall also collapsed, trapping the innocent child beneath the debris.
Rescue Attempts and Aftermath
Jasmine's mother was away at work when the incident occurred. Nearby individuals swiftly responded and managed to pull her out from the debris, but unfortunately, it was too late as the child had already succumbed to her injuries. Enraged by the incident, the local community members apprehended the JCB driver and subjected him to physical assault before handing him over to the police who had arrived at the scene.
Victim's Identity and Family Background
The deceased girl has been identified as Jasmine, and her family hails from Dinajpur in West Bengal. Adding to the poignancy of the situation, it was revealed that the day of the incident also marked Jasmine's birthday.
Legal Action and Investigation
The police promptly seized the JCB involved in the accident. An FIR was registered against the JCB driver, Ram Kishore, at the Kherki Daula police station, and he was subsequently arrested. Police spokesperson Subhash Boken confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigation into the matter.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of safety measures and proper oversight during construction and roadwork projects. The loss of a young life in such a manner has deeply affected the community, and it is imperative that thorough investigations are conducted to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
