Gujarat IAS Officer's Wife, Who Eloped With Her Gangster Boyfriend, Kills Self
Surya Jay, 45-year-old wife of an IAS officer, who eloped with her gangster boyfriend nine months ago, returned to husband's home in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Saturday.
She attempted suicide and died during treatment at a hospital on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Sector 19, Gandhinagar. Surya's husband, Ranjeet Kumar, a secretary at the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission, had instructed his domestic staff to prevent her entry due to her involvement in a child abduction case.
Sources suggest Surya may have gone to her husband's home to avoid arrest by Tamil Nadu police for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old boy in Madurai.
According to Ranjeet Kumar's advocate, Hitesh Gupta, the couple had separated in 2023 and were heading for a divorce.
On Saturday, Ranjeet was out finalising his divorce petition with Surya. Upset at not being allowed into the house, Surya ingested poison and called an ambulance helpline.
Police recovered a suicide note in Tamil but did not disclose its contents.
Surya's name appeared in a case involving her alleged gangster boyfriend, Maharaja High Court, and his aide Senthil Kumar. They were implicated in the kidnapping of a boy on July 11 over a monetary dispute, demanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore.
The boy was rescued by Madurai police, who launched a manhunt for those involved, including Surya.
Meanwhile, Ranjeet Kumar has refused to claim Surya's body.
