On Saturday, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh launched five buses - three CNG and two electric along Yamuna expressway. This means that commuting for people travelling from Jewar to Greater Noida will get significantly easier and more comfortable.

The moves comes after the authorities learnt that the traffic in the region is expected to increase manifold due to the upcoming Noida International Airport.

The airport which is being built near Jewar along the Yamuna Expressway, is expected to witness more than 50 lakh passengers when it will be dedicated to the nation on October 1, 2024.

The airport is strategically located at about 72 km from IGI Airport, about 52 km from Noida, about 130 km from Agra and about 90 km from Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (MMLG) at Dadri. The authorities are hoping to complete the first phase of the project by the end of September this year.

Also, a large number of students, who travel from Jewar to Noida and Greater Noida have been seeking better public transportation.

"The local residents have been pressing for better communication between Jewar and Noida. We discussed the matter with the Yamuna Authority, which has now launched a bus service," Singh said after the launch.

The buses will connect Jewar, Rabupura, Dankaur, Jahangirpur and other areas and reach Noida via Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. They will ply from morning to evening.

The new bus service is seen as a gift to people at a time the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh is celebrating its one year anniversary of second term in power.

While, YEIDA is yet to come up with a detailed route map and timetable for the bus service, local residents have hailed the move.

"The Jewar region has poor public transport system. To date, there was no buses to connect local villages and sectors. People from this region mostly used private vehicles to commute. It is very difficult for the people commuting from Agra to travel to Noida and Greater Noida. The new bus service will be of immense help to the local residents," a local said.

Overall, the new bus service will provide a safe and convenient means of transportation for commuters traveling long distances, reduce traffic congestion on the expressway, and promote sustainable travel.
