CEO Suchana Seth Charged In Son's Murder By Goa Police
In a significant development from Panaji, the Goa Police have formally charged Suchana Seth, a 39-year-old CEO of an AI start-up, with the murder of her four-year-old son. The tragic incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred in an apartment in Candolim. Seth was apprehended on the night of January 7 in Chitradurga, Karnataka, under harrowing circumstances as she was found travelling in a taxi with her son's body concealed in a bag. Investigations revealed that she had left Goa on the night of January 6, immediately after the alleged crime.

The Calangute police have compiled a comprehensive 642-page chargesheet against Seth, detailing the circumstances leading to the young child's death. According to the document, the cause of death was identified as shock and respiratory asphyxia due to strangulation. The chargesheet has brought serious allegations against Seth, including murder under Section 302 and causing the disappearance of evidence under Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, she faces charges under Section 8 of the Goa Children's Act.
The investigation has been thorough, with the Goa police naming 59 witnesses in the case. Among these witnesses is the statement from Seth's husband, who has highlighted ongoing custody issues exacerbated by a Bengaluru family court's orders being disregarded by Suchana, preventing him from meeting their son. This aspect adds a layer of complexity to an already distressing case.
The judicial process is set to move forward with the Goa Children's Court scheduling a hearing on June 14, 2024. This session will be crucial as charges are formally framed against Seth, who is currently held in judicial custody in Goa. Adding an intriguing piece of evidence to the case, authorities have included a note found scribbled on tissue paper with eyeliner, believed to be penned by Seth. Handwriting experts have confirmed its authenticity, further solidifying the chargesheet's foundation.
This case has not only highlighted the tragic loss of a young life but also underscored the complexities surrounding family disputes and their potential escalation into criminal acts. As the legal proceedings unfold, all eyes will be on the Goa Children's Court next year for what promises to be a closely watched trial.
