Ganesha idol immersion turns tragic as 10 youths drown in Bhadravathi river
Shivamogga, Sept. 7: Ten youths drowned in the Bhadravathi river at Harohalli in Shivamogga district on Wednesday when a Ganesha idol immersion event went horribly wrong.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when a boat carrying 15 youths and a Ganesha idol capsized in the middle of the river. At least three youths swam ashore, reports said, and 10 were confirmed drowned. The fate of two others is not known.

Six of those who drowned are said to be from a single family. One body has been recovered, the search is on for the other bodies. Police and fire department personnel are carrying out the search.
