Gajendra Singh cremated, family holds Arvind Kejriwal responsible for farmer's suicide

Jaipur, Apr 23: Delhi's ruling AAP announced on Thursday a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of a Rajasthan farmer who killed himself at a party rally here a day earlier. But the family of deceased is holding the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the death of Gajendra Singh.

After performing the last rites of his brother, Vijendra Singh told media persons that he holds the AAP convener responsible for Gajendra Singh's death.

"Mai khud, Kejriwal ji ko doshi manta hun iss maamle mai (I personally hold Mr Kejriwal guilty in this matter)," Vijendra Singh told ANI.

Gajendra Singh was cremated in his native village of Nangal Jhamarwada in Dausa district of Rajasthan, about 60 kilometres from capital Jaipur.

Earlier in the day, relatives of the deceased claimed that he went to Delhi's Deputy CM Manish Sisodia's residence before his death and was in constant touch with the AAP leader.

"Have come to come to know that Gajendra had gone to Manish Sisodia house at around 11 am, before the rally. We have come to know that Gajendra was in touch with Sisodia," Rajender Singh, Gajendra Singh's cousin told ANI.

A farmer from Rajasthan, Gajendra Singh, hanged himself from a tree at an AAP rally in Jantar Mantar just before Kejriwal addressed thousands against the controversial land ordinance.

The dramatic death of the farmer had turned into a political storm.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Thursday announced the compensation and said that his party activists tried but failed to save Gajendra Singh after he hanged himself from a tree at the site.

AAP has accused the central government, which controls Delhi Police, of hoisting a concocted case against the party over Gajendra's death.
