Fuel Price Hike in Goa: Petrol to Cost ₹96.40, Diesel ₹88.26 Per Litre from Saturday
In the wake of Karnataka's fuel price hike, the Goa government has followed suit by announcing an increase in petrol and diesel prices. The cost of petrol has been raised by Rs 1 per litre, while diesel prices have risen by 36 paise per litre, due to a revision in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate. The new rates will come into effect from Saturday, June 22, impacting consumers in the state.

The announcement regarding the VAT increase on petrol and diesel was made by the Under Secretary (Finance) of the Goa government, Pranab G Bhatt, who issued the notification on Friday. The current price of petrol in Goa is Rs 95.40 per liter. While diesel is Rs 87.90 per liter. With this increase, petrol in Goa will now cost ₹96.40 per litre, up from ₹95.40, and diesel will cost ₹88.26 per litre, up from ₹87.90.
Recent Fuel Price Increases in Karnataka
Recently, the Karnataka government also decided to increase fuel prices. The Congress-led Siddaramaiah government hiked the price of petrol by ₹3 per litre and diesel by ₹3.05 per litre following an amendment in cell tax.
